Young Professionals (YP), one of Dot’s many Employee Resource Groups (ERG), was founded in 2017 at Dot Foods Mt. Sterling, as well as the St. Louis office. The separate locations are driven by an independent steering team. The Mt. Sterling division is led by Megan Greening, who is backed by a steering team of six individuals. The ERG was created with the name Young Professionals, whose mission it is to create a sustain an inviting learning environment while seeking new opportunities for professional and personal growth in a fast-paced, inclusive, and diverse workforce.

The ERG will continue to be devoted to helping Dot employees grow their careers through networking, training sessions, and leadership opportunities—but it will now be known as “Connect.”

“We thought the name ‘Connect’ was more appropriate for our focus, which remains to help our members grow professionally and personally by connecting them with both their peers and Dot leadership through networking and leadership opportunities,” says Greening.

The St. Louis outlet of the ERG will continue to use the name “Young Professionals.”

Connect ERG will also be experiencing an update to its structure. While previously four sub-committees separated the responsibilities of such things as meeting planning, membership retention, communication, and community outreach, those committees will be dissolving. 

Instead, the group plans to change their focus to projects, wherein there will be project leaders and participants. 

“This change will allow members to work on the projects that matter most to them and let them turn their ideas into reality. The steering team and I are really excited about this change in focus—we think it will get more people involved and contributing, which will ultimately aid in their development,” Greening explained.

Connect will continue to create and share their Realistic Job Preview videos that give you an insight into the different roles at Dot. Connect members sit down with Dot employees and have candid conversations about the various aspects of their jobs. These videos can be found on The Compass.
